On July 6, 2011 SCAD Research, Inc. became an IRS approved 501 (c)(3) nonprofit public charity. Thanks to the hard work and support of many, we have raised and donated over $1 million to research since we started!
SCAD Research, Inc. (SRI) is an all-volunteer organization. SRI was started by Bob Alico after his active, healthy wife did not survive a SCAD heart attack. When her cardiologist could not answer Bob’s basic question, Bob knew research was key to finding answers. He discovered that research on SCAD had recently begun at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN under the leadership of Dr. Sharonne Hayes.
