Our 4th annual 5K SCADaddle© for Research run/walk took place at Upper Saucon Township Community Park in Center Valley, PA. Everyone had a great time while raising thousands of dollars for research.
It was a busy SCADaddle© weekend with a Meet & Greet for SCAD survivors, their supporters and SCAD Angel’s family/friends on Friday evening at SpringHill Suites, Quakerstown.
Saturday started out early with packet pick up and walk in registration beginning at 7:30am. Opening ceremony began at 8:45 am with the 5K started at 9:00 am. A dozen survivors and their supporters ran and walked for research. Twenty-five participants were members of Meagan’s Team and participated in memory of Meagan who did not survive. All runners were timed and SCADaddle© medals were given to finishers in a variety of categories. Meagan’s team was recognized as the fastest team and the team that raised the most money for research.
After a successful 5K, there was a SCAD Informational Seminar at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest in Allentown. This was an opportunity for those interested in learning more about SCAD to hear from local cardiologists who treat SCAD patients. Drs. Marissa Tweet and Patricia Best from Mayo Clinic SCAD Research Program joined the group virtually.
Saturday concluded with a Fall Fest Fundraiser in Quakerstown, PA with an outdoor BBQ that included music, outdoor games, a fire pit and smores! Open to the public to raise more awareness and funds for research, it was a fun event for the entire family.
