Thank you to everyone who donated and/or raised funds for research in 2024! Because of you, SCAD Research Inc (SRI) awarded $157,000 to Mayo Clinic SCAD Research Program, Rochester, MN.
Mayo Clinic, under the leadership of Dr. Sharonne Hayes, was the first institution to start research focused specifically on SCAD.
Since SRI began in 2011, we have raised and donated over $1.6 million to help advance research on SCAD. Most of these funds have gone to Mayo Clinic.
SCAD is a poorly understood cause of a heart attack. It is the number one cause of heart attacks in women under age 50, new moms and pregnant women. Although less common, it can impact men too. Fortunately, most people who experience a SCAD heart attack survive. Some, however, do not. These are our SCAD Angels.
SRI is an all-volunteer nonprofit 501(c)3; overseen by a volunteer Board of Directors.
