The 6th annual Greater Lehigh Valley 5k SCADaddle for Research timed run/walk on September 30, 2023 wrapped up our 2023 SCADaddle season in style!
Friday Evening
Survivors and their supporters gathered around several reserved fire pits at Quakertown Trolley Barn Public Market on Friday evening, September 29. This was a wonderful opportunity to meet others impacted by a spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD). Drinks and food were available for purchase.
Saturday SCADaddle
The SCADaddle took place at Upper Saucon Township Community Park, Center Valley, PA, a family and dog friendly park. Thousands of dollars were raised for research. Prior to the start of the 5K, SCAD survivors were recognized. There was also a moment of silence for those who had not survived their heart attacks caused by a SCAD (our SCAD Angels).
Medals were given to top finishers in a variety of categories. After the awards, participants enjoyed refreshments and socialized under the pavilion. They shopped the SCAD Store and entered opportunity drawings to win prizes. Participants also enjoyed food and ice cream from Wiz Kidz and Batch Microcreamery food trucks.
Saturday Afternoon Presentation
Survivors, their supporters and SCAD Angel families gathered in the afternoon for a SCAD Informational Seminar. The seminar was held at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest. We are grateful to Dr. Ellina Feiner for sharing her SCAD knowledge with us.
