Watch the Mayo Clinic SCAD Research Program specialists discuss the latest research findings on October 23rd. We truly appreciate Drs. Sharonne Hayes (team lead), Marysia S. Tweet, Patricia Best, Rekha Mankad, and Nurse Practitioner Kari Dessner sharing both their expertise and their Saturday evening with us.
The evening began with Bob Alico, SCAD Research, Inc. President, announcing several exciting opportunities:
- An up to a $5000 match offered by a SCAD survivor on donations received by 11/07. Donations can be made on either our Facebook page, Website or by mail to 10115 E. Bell Rd, Ste 107-127, Scottsdale, AZ 85260
- Summerland Wine Brands, our Corporate Sponsor, will make a donation for every bottle of Cloud Valley Wine sold through July 2022! The back of the label has our logo, information about SCAD and the URL to our website. The Cloud Valley label is currently sold online and will soon be available in stores.
After introducing the Mayo Clinic SCAD medical staff, Dr. Hayes showed a 15 minute SCAD video she created especially for medical professionals. She positioned the video as SCAD 101. Prior to showing the video, a list of acronyms was emailed to registered participants. Following the video, using a Q&A format, Dr. Hayes asked the various Mayo researchers questions. Many of the questions she asked had been submitted by survivors via Chat.
Afterwards, participants moved into breakout rooms for an informal social for survivors to get to know and support each other. A highlight of the social was a visit to each breakout room by a Mayo Clinic SCAD specialist to meet survivors and answer additional questions.
A special thank you to Carol Zich, Ellen Robin and Nick D’Orazio for their countless hours to make this opportunity possible. A shout out to the SCAD survivor moderators who hosted the breakout rooms and to Jeannie Voirin-Gerde for the terrific event graphics!
