We are excited to announce our 3rd annual 5K Walk/Run for SCAD Research scheduled for Saturday, May 3, 2014 at the St. James Farm Forest Preserve just outside Naperville, Illinois, where our other walks took place.
We are thrilled about our new location for 2014. St. James Farm was renovated in 2013 and has plenty of parking and room for hundreds of participants. The grounds are beautiful. There is a 5K woodland trail that is in the process of being certified as a 5K running trail plus there is a one mile crushed gravel wooded path for strollers, wagons and those who feel the 5K is a bit too long. The one mile path goes through the historic farm with signage explaining the various buildings and sculptures.
Dr. Sharonne Hayes, the lead of Mayo Clinic’s SCAD research team, will participate in the walk and will present the latest SCAD research findings at a lunch afterwards for those interested in learning more about SCAD.
A SCAD Survivor dinner is once again being planned by survivors Cheryl Crisman, Deb McGarry and Meghan Scheiber.
Watch for details and registration information for all of the above events in early 2014.
So…mark your calendars, invite your friends, save your money and plan to join us on May 3, 2014! Last year over 160 people including 37 survivors enjoyed the walk/fun run and other events.
Watch the survivors kickoff the walk on YouTube and visit us on Facebook to see pictures from last year’s walk/fun run.
