On June 10, our second Lehigh Valley 5K SCADaddle for Research was a huge success thanks to the hard work of many! Over 175 participants registered including 19 survivors along with the family and friends of Meagan, who did not survive. Due to the generosity of individuals and businesses, over $35,000 was raised!
The weekend started out with a Meet & Greet for survivors and supporters on Friday evening. The 5K took place Saturday morning on a paved trail around the beautiful park surrounding Bethlehem Community Center. Medals were given to top male and female finishers overall as well as in various age categories. Team awards were also presented for the top Fundraiser Team, Finisher Team and Spirit Team.
Capping the weekend was the Gratitude Gala, which took place at Blue Grillhouse on Saturday evening. The Gratitude Gala was a cocktail reception fundraiser and was open to the community. Over 80 people participated in the Gala, which included a silent auction and raffles. The Gratitude Gala was a time to share gratitude for the weekend, for each other and to raise awareness about SCAD.
Thank you to the team who worked so hard on the weekend. Jill McComsey (Team Leader), Jerry Steward (Race Director) Stephanie Steward (Registration), Kayla Karan, Vickie Doule’, Amy Allen, Stephanie George, Claudia Brown, Danielle Denlein, Gabrielle Bailey and Meghan Harrington Patton.
Thank you also to our volunteers, many of whom came from Women Lawyers of the Lehigh Valley and from the Lehigh Valley Chapter for WomenHeart.
