Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection

37, healthy, no children, non smoker, non drinker, perfect BP, cholesterol, etc

May 26, 2015

I have inflammation. I want to say that, first. If I die from another SCAD, I want people to link research with these attacks to inflammation. I have severe pain from inflammation in my hands, etc. I have for many years. I attribute it to RA (or immune response).

I am otherwise healthy. I am overweight, but my blood doesn’t say so and neither did my cath.

My cholesterol, HDL, LDL, Blood sugars, BP, pressures are all perfect.

My BP during my SCAD was 120/89. I almost didn’t go to the hospital.
I had horrible heartburn. I didn’t have chest pain, pressure or trouble breathing. I did feel as if my bra was poking me in too many places. I felt generally ill, like the stomach flu (which I had a week prior).

I has a relatively normal EKG on admission, but cardiac enzymes were in my blood.
I had a heart cath the next morning. Everything was perfect in there. Now what?

I’ve joined the clinical trial and genetic sequencing project at the Mayo.
I am on a cardiac prophylactic regiment, but the medications all make me sick. The BP meds make me so tired I can’t function and the statin makes my muscles cramp so badly I am useless.

The after SCAD is the hard part. There is no why, or what’s next. We all must truly live as if this is our last moment here.
