Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection

36 Year Old Mother of 3

January 6, 2016

I am a 36 year old mother of 3 beautiful children! I have two girls and then in April of 2014 was blessed again with a baby boy this time. When he was three weeks old one evening i started having what seemed like at the time most likely indigestion – i had eaten spicy food for supper so it made sense. I took some tums and went on to bed.

The next day i had the nagging pain again, but about lunchtime that day my jaw and arm started bothering me and then i broke out in a sweat. My husband and oldest daughter were out of town, my middle daughter was at school so i thought i would lay down with my baby and take a nap. I laid down and got to thinking i needed to get up and unlock my door so if i died it would be easy for someone to get in to take care of the baby.

I called my mom and asked her to take me to ER. I kept telling her it was silly to go, they would tell me it was gas and send me home but that was not the case. My bloodwork came back and my cardiac enzymes were elevated. They transferred me to another hospital and did arteriorgram the next day. I had to have two stents placed in my LAD but no one could explain why.

Two weeks later same thing and this time one stent in RCA. I never could get answers as to why this was happening, i do not have high blood pressure, have low cholestorol, do not smoke, do not drink and no family history. Finally took all my scans and paperwork to another doctor and he has diagnosed me as a SCAD patient. I have been searching the internet finding out all i can and it sounds just like my situation. I thank God that He allowed me to survive and am here to help raise my three kids and i just hope my story can help someone as the stories i have read have helped me.
