2024 Chicagoland SCADaddle

Our 11th Chicagoland chip-timed run/walk on June 24, 2024 at Danada Forest Preserve, Wheaton, IL was a great success, raising thousands of dollars for research!

Participants enjoyed a warm up conducted by Jazzercise Glen Ellyn Fitness Center. Kendra Meyers shared her amazing SCAD survivor story.

Prior to the start of the 5k, participants lined up along both sides of the trail and recognized survivors as they processed together towards the start line.

All runners/walkers were timed. Gift certificates were awarded to the overall 1st place male finisher and the overall 1st place female finisher. Overall 2nd and 3rd place male/female finishers and top three finishers by age categories received a special heart-shaped cookie. Medals were given to all participants.

Following the 5k, participants browsed items from the SCAD store, enjoyed refreshments and face painting.

To help celebrate our 11th Chicagoland SCADaddle, a complimentary Chicago-style hot dog lunch was served.

SCAD Reunion & Mayo Clinic SCAD Presentation

2024 Chicagoland Presentation

News and comradery were in the air on June 21, 2024 at our 11th annual Chicagoland SCAD Social/Reunion Dinner at the Moment on Main Venue, Wheaton, IL. For some this was an opportunity to reconnect with survivors they had met over the years. While for others, this was the first time they had met another survivor in person.

Ellen Robin, SCAD Research, Inc’s President, welcomed both those present in person and online. Mayo Clinic’s Presentation followed with exciting research news and future endeavors.

We are honored that Dr. Sharonne Hayes and Dr. Marysia Tweet joined us and presented Mayo Clinic’s latest research findings again this year. They talked about what is currently known about SCAD; published research papers and Mayo’s collaborative efforts with other institutions who are studying SCAD. After their formal presentation they took answers from both the in person an virtual audience. Click here to watch their presentation along with the Q&A portion that follows.

Thank You

Thank you to everyone who has participated in Mayo Clinic’s research as well as those who have raised money to advance research. As you’ll hear in Mayo’s presentation, your participation in their study and everyone’s fundraising efforts are paying off!

We appreciate Nick D’Orazio for sharing his expertise streaming the Chicagoland presentation again this year. Nick lost his wife Mary to SCAD several years ago.
