2024 Pittsburgh (PA) 5k SCADaddle© for Research
Sunday, October 6, 2024
Our 1st annual Pittsburgh 5K SCADaddle for Research timed run/walk on October 6 wrapped up our 2024 SCADaddle season in style.
The chip-timed 5K took place at South Park – Edgebrook Field, South Park Township, just outside Pittsburgh. All participants received a participation medal when they crossed the finish line.
Awards were given to the overall winner male and female. Recognition was given to 2nd and 3rd place males/females overall and to the top three males/females in a variety of age groups.
After the awards ceremony, participants relaxed, enjoyed refreshments and each other’s company. They also shopped the SCAD store.
SCAD Reunion and Mayo Clinic Presentation
On Saturday evening, SCAD survivors, their supporters and SCAD Angels family/friends gathered at 7 Twelve Table & Taphouse in Pleasant Hill, PA.
This was a wonderful opportunity to meet, share each other’s stories and support each other. A highlight of the evening was meeting and learning from Dr. Patricia Best. Dr. Best is an interventional cardiologist and SCAD researcher at the Mayo Clinic SCAD Research Program, Rochester, MN.
The evening started out with early 5k packet pickup and a meet and greet. A cash bar was available throughout the evening.
After enjoying a delicious buffet dinner, Dr. Best presented Mayo’s latest research findings. She answered questions from the audience afterwards.
The SCAD Reunion is especially for SCAD survivors, their supporters and family/friends who lost their loved ones to SCAD – our SCAD Angels.
