Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection

My life changer…

July 5, 2013

When my SCAD attack back in March 2013 happened I was 8 months pregnant. I was at home just resting when it hit me out of no where. At first I just thought I had severe stomach acid reflex but went full blown pain and pressure to the chest shoulder down my left arm and my hand went numb. I said to myself there is no way I’m having a attack but the pain was to much. My husband was trying hard to keep me from passing out. I stood up trying like a idiot thinking I could walk it off all while he was on the phone with my mother who lives close by to pick me up and take me to the ER. When I got there I got blown off at first saying there is no way I had a heart attack. Several docs went by intill I had thier boss show and after numerous tests say I did suffer a heart attack they didnt know what caused it and found I sufferd from a SCAD and could see it in the echo and at the cat lab. 1 doctor there out of several has seen it once in 30 years. They ran me to ICU under nitro drip at first but over night I suffered another attack and had to have stints put in. I’m now going to carido classes etc. But to be honest because Ill never feel like I can undertand why it happened. My baby boy was born 2 weeks earlier. I was in ICU for weeks. I’m not the same as before the attack. But I am glad my child made it thru all that without problems. I would like to sign up for a study sometime.
