Had just gotten out of the tub, took a nice long hot bath was dried off and dressed and suddenly this crazy sharp pain on my left side from front to back elbow to neck, squeezing, tight, sharp and cold super cold. Kept breathing thought it would pass 40min later still super painful and crying asked my boyfriend to take me to the hospital.
Walked in described my pain and they took me in and yes you are having a heart attack and a really good one. The pain didn’t stop till 130am, it started at 9pm. It maintained at about a 7-8 and then it was gone. 4doses of nitro and a bunch of other stuff. Constantly being asked if I smoked had high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes and nope none of the above.
The next morning I was told I had SCAD and they were going to go threw my wrist and check out my heart. You’re going to what? The next day after that an electro cardio gram and then sent me home with 4 prescriptions and a week off of work. What just happened to me? I survived and had a near death experience, saw my whole family and can’t wrap my head around that I had a heart attack and that if I hadn’t come in sooner I probably would have died.
That I’m only 48 and in good health. That now all I do is notice my heart and feel anxious all the time that I’m a ticking time bomb, because yes it can happen again and they don’t know how to prevent it. But that I also need to remember this is a wake up call to live, so I’m trying to do that too.
