Wonderful First Annual Minnesota SCADaddle for Research

October 14, 2018

Thanks to the hard work of many, our first annual Minnesota 5K SCADaddle© weekend September 21-22 was a success! There were 300 registered participants including 35 survivors along with family/friends walking in memory of their loved one who did not survive, a SCAD Angel.

The weekend started on Friday evening with a SCAD Reunion dinner at the Holiday Inn & Suites – Lake Elmo. After dinner, Dr. Marysia Tweet, a key researcher at Mayo Clinic SCAD Research Program, presented Mayo Clinic’s latest research findings.

The 5K SCADaddle© took place on Saturday morning at Battle Creek Regional Park in St. Paul. Set up for the 5K fun run/walk started early with walk-in registration/check in beginning at 7:30 am. SCAD survivors who participated were recognized prior to the beginning of the 5K. A memorial candle and sign were displayed in memory of the SCAD Angel whose family/friends participated in his memory. Participants received SCADaddle© medals as they crossed the finish line. An informal social with refreshments and SCAD Store items took place after the 5K in celebration of a successful 5K SCADaddle©.
